Description
The action could have taken place in the USA in 2020, with the assassination of George Floyd. Instead, the play features a small multiracial island state. This young charismatic singer has just been killed in a police station. Suspecting foul play and racism, there is a spontaneous riot. Symbols of power are demolished and shops vandalised. The plot develops in the course of twenty-four hours, the day after the riot had calmed down. The rioters had quietly retreated to their respective homes. Not the protagonist. He questions everything and everyone, beginning with his own parents. The play is written in French verse. It is also a tribute to the popular singer Kaya, while reference is made to other artists killed violently, like the British John Lennon and the Nigerian Ken Saro-Wiwa.
